Russian bank Agrosoyz falls under US sanctions against Korea

WASHINGTON, Aug 3 (PRIME) -- Russian bank Agrosouyz has fallen under the sanctions of the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) related to North Korea for a transaction designated for activities related to weapons of mass destruction, the Department of the Treasury said in a statement on Friday.

“Today’s action targets a Russian bank for knowingly facilitating a significant transaction on behalf of an individual designated for weapons of mass destruction-related activities in connection with North Korea. OFAC also targeted one individual and two entities for facilitating North Korean illicit financial activity,” the statement read.

Agrosoyz was ranked Russia’s 202nd largest bank by assets as of July 1.
